McIntyre Rose of Pinot Noir 2018
By minimizing human intervention, McIntyre’s vineyards & wines remain as natural as possible. The 80-acre McIntyre Estate Vineyard lies in the “sweet spot” of the rolling, Santa Lucia Highlands benchland region. The vines for this rosé are now 45 years old, own rooted - a rarity in California- and grown on a Lyre trellis system. A north/south row orientation ensures even sun exposure from dawn to sunset.
Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: Stunning aromas of fresh florals such as lavender & roses followed by soft peaches & apricots. The texture is a bit mysterious; one moment its zesty & earthy and the next it is bold, plush, and tart. The finish is pure, dry, and quenching.
Pairings: Prosciutto wrapped melon, dates and blue cheese, creamy shallot polenta with Chimichurri, sushi, and sake steamed mussels.
Winemaking: The grapes for this rosé were harvested and hand-sorted in the early morning hours. Primary & malolactic fermentations were carried out with the wild, indigenous yeast and malolactic bacteria that naturally thrive in the vineyard.
Case Production: 1,412 cases
