Journeyman Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2018
This lot is from the Thomas Road Property from the Dutton Brothers. As one of the oldest Pinot Noir site in the Green Valley AVA, this vineyard produces a small amount of concentrated fruit. It features Gold Ridge soils, low vigor growth, great south west exposure, and clear sunlight path- leading to premium quality Pinot Noir.
Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Clones: Dijon 548
Vineyard Sources: Zio Tony
Tasting Notes: Ribbons of Bing cherries, blackberries, and luscious red currants are met with granite river rock and dusty cocoa. The finish is long and inviting as the acid and tannins are very restrained. Unfiltered & unfined.
Pairings: Seared duck breast, chicken Saltimboca, lamb chops, roasted mushrooms, country-styled terrines & pates, jalapeno stuffed quail, and cool evening air.
Winemaking: The grapes are picked at night, de-stemmed, and double-sorted to ensure that only the best fruit moves forward, and gently poured into four-ton open-top tanks. The new wine and cap is drained and then gently pressed to reduce extraction of harsh tannins. It is then aged the in Francoise Freres barrels, using 50% new and 50% one-year-old.
Production: 218 cases
Winemaker: Pete Seghesio
