The Eola-Amity Hills AVA is centrally located in the Willamette Valley of Oregon, just east of the 'Van Duzer Coridor.' The Coridor is a gap in the mountain range providing direct wines into the vineyards of Eola-Amity Hills- yielding thicker skinned grapes, and in turn, more developed tannins and intense flavors. Only formed in 2006, this is one of the youngest regions of Oregon, yielding full-flavored pinot noirs that are new to most and a wonderful opportunity to explore and discover all of our next new favorites- and Grafted Eola-Amity Hills Pinot Noir will quickly be a favorite at the top of most anyone's lists.
Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes: The nose is quintessentially Eola-Amity Hills with a vibrancy of orange oil, black tea leaves & raspberries. The mid-palate is persistent and lingering, with prevalent cranberry and pomegranate, further raspberry, and finishing with soft and subtle forest ferns.
Pairings: Wonderful with a rillette of game or pork, roasted shitake mushrooms, or seared duck breast.
Winemaking: We harvest our Pinot Noir around 23.5 Brix and gently de-stem before maceration. Our fermentations take about a week to avoid harsh tannic flavors. After pressing & malolactic fermentation, the wine ages 10-16 months in a combination of barrels and tanks before blending & bottling.
