A fantastic vintage, 2016 was a year hallmarked by exceptional fruit through a number of ideal growing conditions. This expression of Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon is layered and rich, in part to the Bordeaux-inspired blending that coaxes the true nuances of fruit and builds notable aroma.
Composition: 75% Cabernet Sauvignon | 19% Merlot | 6% Cabernet Franc
Tasting Notes: The nose is flush with rich cocoa and concentrated red fruits. There is a touch of herbaceousness in the finish of the aroma that is a beautiful link to the entry of the wine. Rich ripe strawberry is met with textured black cherry and the lush cherry skin tannins to follow. The finish is perfectly balanced and layered in rich cocoa, fresh forest fir, and just a kiss of sandalwood and vanilla.
Pairings: Standing rib roast, seared sirloin strip, boar or elk sausage, potatoes au gratin, grilled broccolini, and Berkshire pork bone-in chops.
Winemaker: Kat & Rob McDonald - Rob and Kat met in Australia when Kat left California for an opportunity working with a brewery took her from home. Three years later, Kat returned to the United States with Rob soon to follow. They founded an import group to bring many of their favorite Australian producers to the United States, Kat would attend law school, and they would plant many a vine to pursue making their own wines. Their parent portfolio holding, Art+Farm Wine, was founded in 2005 and they have been making wine ever since.
